In line with the call for a nationwide barangay general assembly last Saturday, March 26, Barangay Luinab held its own at the Bahayan Gym.

Barangay Captain Regino Ocana led the activity attended by all the barangay officials and other residents.

He said that the assembly must be attended by all the residents so that everyone will know all the activities of the local barangay government.

The activity is held to ensure transparency in governance, he said.

Barangay Kagawads took turns in presenting their respective reports.

It was noted with great appreciation by the people that the budget of the barangay has increased to P2.7 Million.

In the previous years, the budget was only a little over a million pesos because the barangay has no Internal Revenue allocation (IRA) since Luinab was created after the enactment of the Local Government Code.

During the administration of Mayor Lawrence Ll. Cruz through an ordinance authored by then Councilor Orlando Maglinao, a subsidy of P1 Million for each of the 6 barangays that have no IRA was granted, it was learned.

Under the present administration of Mayor Celso G. Regencia, an additional P1 Million has been accorded to each of the said 6 barangays pursuant to another ordinance reportedly authored by Councilor Renato Anches.

Anches had been a Barangay Councilor and Barangay Captain of Buruun, this City, before he was elected City Councilor last May 2016, it was it was gathered.
