Lanao del Sur Peace Summit 2015

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (August 16) -- The Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG) in collaboration with the provincial government of Lanao del Sur and the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) will sponsor the Lanao del Sur Peace Summit 2015 with a theme: Linking Normalization Mechanisms with Local Security Concerns in Cagayan de Oro City on Tuesday, August 18..
Atty. Benedicto R. Bacani, IAG executive director, said the one-day discussion workshop will gather participants from the provincial government line agencies and representatives of multi-sector organizations to tackle the compelling security concerns in the Province of Lanao del Sur.
Bacani said said the undertaking is in line with the larger program to interface the functions and also to improve the working relations between the Provincial Peace and Order Councils (PPOC) and multi-sector organizations and the normalization bodies, such as the Joint Normalization Committee (JNC), Joint Peace and Security Committee (JPSC), Independent Decommissioning Body (IDB), and the Transitional Justice and Reconciliation Commission (TJRC).
He said the participants will join the members of Normalization Bodies to workout ways by which they can collaborate to address the provincial security and policing concerns.
He said national experts on peace and security together with representatives from the normalization aspect of the GPH-MILF peace negotiations will provide inputs on the normalization program.
