RANAO STAR TO MARK ANNIVERSARY

The New Ranao Star, the only newspaper in the Maranao Homeland and fastest growing weekly newspaper in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) will celebrate its first anniversary in July this year since it was revived last year.

The celebrations will be highlighted by giving awards to persons whom the news organization has recognized to have outstanding achievement or have excelled in their respective careers or undertakings and have contributed to the community.

The New Ranao Star is a sequel of the old Ranao Star which was published years ago but was temporarily shelved due to unavoidable circumstance.

It is founded by veteran journalist and academician Prof. Masiding Noor Yahya.

Yahya is former secretary general of the World Federation of Muslim Journalists’ Organizing Secretariat based in Kuala Lumpur.

He was also former Director for Student Affairs of Al-Mustapha International College in Makati and has been consultant to various government and non-government organizations.

Aside from being publisher and editor-in-chief of the New Ranao Star, Yahya is Presidential Adviser of Jamiatu Marawi Al-Islamia Foundation-Sultan Sampaco Center for Academic Excellence (JMIF-SSCAE), leading private Islamic school in the locality
