On November 19, 2014, the Department of Education Central Office gave the National Assessment Test (NAT) all over the Philippines but Marawi City Grade 9 students failed to take the test.

“What would I do?,” lamentably asked Macatanong. “My Supervisor has retired. Her Coordinator, Ms. Jamilah Alonto, Principal I, was somewhere else on the day of the National Assessment Test,” she said.

The other reason the Islamic City of Marawi School Division have not taken the National Assessment Test, according to Macatanong, is that “again there is no fund.”

She asked: “Where would we get money to orient the students? Where would we get money to transport them to the place where the National Assessment Test will be held? We will not even give our students snacks on the day of the said test?”

Macatanong was speaking during an emergency meeting she called last November 24.
