The Local Government Unit (LGU) of the municipality of Taraka in the province of Lanao del Sur has started on Monday its house to house distribution of relief goods to families affected by the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) in the municipality amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In a social media statement on Monday, the LGU which is headed by Mayor Nashiba Gandamra-Sumagayan and Vice Mayor Amenodin Sumagayan, said the distribution began after the packing of additional purchased commodities to be included in the relief packs. "This is line with our country’s fight against the global contagion COVID-19," it said.
"As of today, eight barangays namely: Barangays Cadayonan, Gapao Balindong, Salamatullah, Datumaas, Maruhom, Mangayao, and Suphangan were already provided with relief goods," it added.
The LGU said the house-to-house distribution is expected to continue until all the families/households in the municipality are given relief goods. "Hence, the LGU requests the patience of those who are not given yet as one-time distribution of relief goods to all 43 barangays is now beyond the capacity of LGU considering the restrictions," it said.
The LGU also asked the community to observe all the guidelines included in the advisory released by the Taraka COVID-19 Inter-agency Task Force for the safety of everyone.
