Marawi big time drug syndicate busted

Image result for lanao del sur police provincial office logoMARAWI CITY: The Philippine National Police (PNP) has busted a big time drug syndicate in Lanao del Sur with the arrest of a lady illegal drug-peddler here.

Lanao del Sur Police Provincial office (LDSPPO) chief Police Supt. Madzgani Mukaram said Sofia Ebra Bayantol aka Noro H. Datumaas, 29, a resident of Barangay (Village) Dilimbayan, Maguing, Lanao del Sur, was arrested in a buy-bust operation on Wednesday.

Mukaram said police operatives conducted illegal drug buy-bust operation at Barangay Fort in Bangon, this City, which resulted in the arrest of Bayantol for selling one piece heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white Crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu” to a police officer who acted as poseur buyer.

Also confiscated from the suspect was another piece heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be “shabu” with an estimated weight of 55 grams, more or less, and three pieces one-thousand-peso bill marked money with serial numbers SU622487, TN7154499, and GU661494.

Police believed Bayantol is a member of a big-time drug syndicate operating in the province of Lanao del Sur.

The suspect and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to the Provincial Crime Laboratory Office, LDSPPO for drug and laboratory examinations.

She was brought to Amai Pakpak Medical Center for physical and medical examination and then detained at Marawi City Police Station.

Appropriate charges are now being readied against the suspect.

In Malabang, Lanao del Sur, another buy-bust operation on Tuesday resulted to the death of an illegal drug suspect Caharodin Moda Abocadama, 28, from Barangay Banday, Malabang, Lanao del Sur, who was killed by police operatives when he fought it out against them.

Initial report disclosed that during the drug transaction in Barangay Banday, Abocadama sensed that he was dealing with police poseur-buyer and immediately pulled out his caliber .45 pistol that prompted an armed confrontation with the operatives. He was dead on the spot.

Police said they recovered from the possession and control of the deceased suspect one unit 1911 A1 model caliber .45 pistol with inserted magazine loaded with six live ammunitions bearing serial number 258331; one heat-sealed plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be “shabu” or methamphetamine hydrochloride; and one piece 200 peso bill marked money.

Recovered pieces of evidence were brought to Malabang Municipal Police Station for proper disposition and documentation while the cadaver of the suspect was claimed by his immediate relatives.

Mukaram said, “The active support and timely information provided by the community and the determination of the Local Chief Executive to eradicate illegal drugs leads to this successful anti-illegal drugs operation.”

“This successful anti-illegal drug operation is the end-result of active participation of the community by providing relevant and timely information to the law enforcement units,” he added. (MASIDING NOOR YAHYA/RSP)
