Five Lanao Sur towns get Seal of Good Local Governance national awards

MANILA: Five municipal government units in the province of Lanao del Sur received the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) national awards, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) announced Monday.

The awardees are the municipalities of Buadiposo-Buntong, Kapatagan, Piagapo, Taraka, and Wao.

In the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), 23 provincial, city and municipal local government units received the awards.

They are Basilan province, Lamitan City and 21 municipal LGUs across the region that include the five Lanao del Sur municipalities.

To be a recipient of an SGLG award, a local government unit (LGU) needs to meet standards set by the national government that encompass three core assessment areas: Good Financial Housekeeping, Social Protection and Disaster Preparedness, and at least one from essential assessment areas, namely Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, Peace and Order, or Environmental Management. - RSP
