MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur: "A woman who is good is better than a thousand men who are useless."
Thus said the number two vice chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) to more than a hundred Moro women who attended the 1st general meeting of women's political leaders in the province of Lanao del Sur of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) recently.
Aleem Ali B. Solaiman, second vice chair of the MILF Central Committee, was guest of honor during the occasion held at Marawi Resort Hotel in this city Friday, November 9.
He said he recognized the indispensable role of the women during the coming BOL plebiscite.
"So mapenggalebek iyo a mga bae na sasabuten ami a mala a di so mapenggalebek ami (We understand that what you women can do is greater than what we can do)," said Solaiman who is also the vice president for Northern Mindanao of UBJP.
Solaiman said Ameer-ul-Mujahideen Al Haj Murad Ibrahim was proud of the Maranaos. He said this was because, the first LGU leaders who came to Darapanan to meet the MILF leadership were the chief executives of Lanao del Sur who committed full support to the 'Yes' vote.
Some time ago, mayors of the province municipalities including the provincial government led by vice governor Mamintal Adiong Jr. came to meet MILF chairman Murad and expressed full support to campaign for the 'Yes' votes. The political leaders committed that if possible they will make zero vote for 'No.'
By the grace of Allah, Solaiman said, he thinks the (implementation of) BOL will make it. The BOL, he said, is to settle disputes. He added: "If you vote for'Yes' you want 'Peace'.
Solaiman said we have won. Quoting Al Haj, he said, We have won in the battlefield; we have won in the negotiation table because the Law prepared by the 21-member Bangsamoro Transitiion Committee (BTC) may not be seen as an act of blood (struggle) but this is a product of the blood of our martyrs. - RSP
