MARZO READY TO REVERT TO VICE MAYOR

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines, October 12 — The Acting Mayor is ready to yield the position of City Mayor and return to his elected position of Vice Mayor if ordered by the proper authorities such as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Acting Mayor Ruderic C. Marzo made this statement at the wake of reports that Mayor Celso G. Regencia will return to work on October 19 after serving his 6-months suspension for Grave Abuse of Authority.

It was learned that on October 12, Mayor Celso Regencia wrote the Sangguniang Panlungsod informing that he had served his suspension and will reportfor work on October 19.

Copies of the said letter were also sent to the different departments of the City government.

Earlier in the morning during the flag raising ceremony of city government employees, Marzo thanked all the employees for giving him their full support and cooperation during his administration as Acting Mayor for over five months.

Regencia reportedly sent his letter following his voluntary surrender to the authorities to face the Multiple Murder and Multiple Frustrated Murder pending against him in connection with the ambush of the convoy or Iligan Lone District Representative Vicente F.
