Dateline Iligan. NFA ASSURES ENOUGH RICE DURING EL NINO
The local office of the National Food Authority (NFA) assured the public that there will be enough supply of rice in Iligan City and Lanao del Norte in the expected occurrence of the El Nino phenomenon.
This was revealed by Senior Official Hadji Ali Liawao of the NFA-Lanao del Norte in a meeting with the press during the launching of Consumer Welfare Month, October 6.
He said that the agency had prepared a buffer supply of rice for the dry months.
It was earlier predicted by the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) that El Nino may prevail from September to December this year and slow down in May 2016.
On the other hand, Senior City Agriculturist Necitas Famador disclosed that the City Agriculturist’s Office has also prepared a strategy to minimize the impact of El Nino on the farmers of the City.
