LANAO DEL SUR DIVISION 2 TO HOLD CAMPUS JOURNALISM SEMINAR
MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur, May 1 -- The Schools Division of Lanao del Sur 2 will conduct a three-day summer school paper writing workshop on May 16 to 18, 2014 to be held at Alkhasrul Bedjoria Function Hall,Officers' Line, this city.
With the theme "Transformation and Leadership through Campus Journalism and Academic Excellence," some 200 campus papers advisers, English advisers and campus journalists within the division are expected to attend in the seminar.
Division Supervisor Waisah Arsad told The New Ranao Star that the workshop is aimed "to provide our student journalists and school paper advisers the adequate knowledge and skills in coming up with regular circulation of a school publication as a preparation to National Schools Press Conference.Division."
Arsad said "this will also promote leadership through print media and allows students to have their voice in the teaching-learning process, a transformation to an empowered learner."
Resource speakers invited to help train the participants included Dr. Minalang Barapantao Sr, former station manager of Radio Ng Bayan Marawi, who will deliver on Editorial and Featuring with Ethics on Journalism; Violeta M. Gloria of the Mindanao News who will talk on News Writing, Photojournalism, Cartooning and E-Publication; Mr. Renato Bashier M. Ilupa to talk on Broadcasting and Script Writing; and Prof. Masiding Noor Yahya, editor-in-chief of The New Ranao Star, who will discuss Layout, Design and Collaborative Publishing.
