Lasureco subsidizes power usage of low-income clients
MARAWI CITY: Amid the extended Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to the pandemic coronavirus disease (Covid-19), Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative (Lasureco) will subsidize the electricity needs of its “lifeline consumers” whose electric consumption ranges from 1kwH to 26kwh.
Lasureco general manager Nordjiana L. Dipatuan-Ducol said in a statement aside from ensuring unimpeded delivery of energy goods and services to the province of Lanao del Sur and Marawi City, there is a need to help consumers by easing their bills through subsidization.
“This is a corporate social responsibility of the organization to adopt the Pantawid Liwanag Program led and conceptualized by the Philippine Rural Electric Cooperatives Association, Inc. (PHILRECA,) in cooperation with the National Association of General Managers of Electric Cooperatives (NAGMEC),” said Ducol who sits as a member of the Board of Directors of each organization.
She said, “Despite the tough situation and crisis faced by LASURECO, its heart is firmly-committed towards serving the member-consumers beyond its capacity during the extraordinary times and the immediate implementation of the program will ease the impact of the pandemic coronavirus to our low-income member-consumers specifically on their basic necessities.”
The Pantawid Liwanag coupon will automatically be given to deserving low-income consumers falling into the required consumption level within the entire franchise area of Lanao del Sur and Marawi City.
Duco assured the consumers that Lasureco’s management and the Board of Directors spearheaded by Atty. Vicar Loureen G. Lofranco with its frontline employees are working 24/7 for operation and maintenance services to ensure the stability of electricity amidst the global pandemic.
Ducol said Lasureco management is doing utmost efforts in exploring other alternative programs and opportunities to serve the interest of its consumers and stakeholders in these very trying times.
