AMIN leads consultation on Marawi rehabs

MARAWI CITY: Anak Mindanao (AMIN) Partylist led a Dialogue-Consultation recently at the Mamitua Saber Research Center of the Mindanao State University (MSU) here with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and People’s Organizations (POs) working in and for Marawi City.
This event was organized to gather groups from Marawi City and hear their concerns being experienced by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
The dialogue also heard concerns about the ongoing rehabilitation, including discussion on the contents of Marawi Compensation Bill authored by Deputy Speaker and Basilan Rep. Mujiv Hataman, AMIN Partylist Rep. Amihilda Sangcopan and Lanao del Sur Reps. Ansaruddin Adiong and Yasser Balindong, together with the other 96 lawmakers in the Lower House.
CSOs suggested about having a TFBM hotline so that IDPs can have direct access to information about projects and plans or any updates regarding Marawi efforts. It was said that "fake news" is prevalent in the area, causing alarm to the people, and should be addressed immediately. They have also requested for a long-term solution such as employment for the home-based IDPs, as they have been struggling to have a stable livelihood.
Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Member Atty. Rasol Y. Mitmug, Jr., said that this activity is also an opportunity to gather ideas to come up with a law or resolution addressing the identified concerns.
Civic leader Norodin A. Lucman wrote in Social Media that it was agreed by the participants of the dialogue-consultation from various stakeholders that Congress:
1. investigate anomalies in the rehabilitation effort of the government (awarding) of contracts to Manila-based contractors and politicians;
2. Work on the compensation bill;
3. Return of IDPs to ground Zero; and
4. Objection to the AFP plan to establish a military industrial camp in GZ (sectors 6,8,9, abolition of barangays therein in accordance with US Military Reservation Act of 1902.
There were also other important issues discussed.
On his part, Hataman said he would request Congress to extend the life of P4 Billion earmarked for rehabilitation for another year.
Hataman led the panelists which included Sangcopan, Mitmug, former ARMM regional vice governor Haroun Alrashid Lucman and Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) official Ariel Hernandez as facilitator.
