Bacolod Kalawi conducts polio vaccines for children

BACOLOD KALAWI, Lanao del Sur: The Municipal Government of Bacolod Kalawi under the leadership of Mayor Nora L. Dipatuan conducted polio vaccinations for the children of the municipality on Monday, October 14, 2019. 

Mayor Dipatuan also led a caravan on Monday morning from Barangay Sugod to Pindolonan boundary, back and forth, as among the highlights in the implementation of the government sabayan patak kontra polio program which from October 14 to 27, 2019. 

Polio is a highly infectious and potentially fatal disease cause by a virus. It invades the nervous system and can cause paralysis or even death in a matter of hours. There is no cure for polio. However, it can be prevented through safe and effective vaccines. Vaccination is provided for free at health centers and involves three doses of polio drops and one injection to 0 to 5ys old. 

The vaccination was held in the lake side view Gymnasium of Bacolod Kalawi which was attended by Municipal Vice Mayor Junairah D. Mabandus, 25 Barangay chairmen, representatives of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Ministry of Health (MOH), Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), and municipal line agencies and municipal officials.
