Education is a tool against poverty
BACOLOD KALAWI, Lanao del Sur: The school principal of Raya Elementary School here believed that one tool against poverty is education, and, quoting William Gates, he said that "When we work togerther, we can achieve great things."
Thus said School Principal H. Edris A. Ali when he delivered his State of the School Address (SOSA) late last month.
Principal Ali was among the six school heads and principals of Bacolod District, Lanao del Sur-II schools division who delivered their SOSAs in a joint program held at the quadrangle of Bacolod Central Elementary School in this town last July 31, 2018.
Raya Elementary School is located at Barangay Raya, the upper part of Bacolod Kalawi, Lanao Del Sur. It is 1.4 kilometer away from the Highway and it is near Barangay Tambo.
The school is composed of a concrete building and one makeshift and has a teaching force of eight regular teachers and one alive teacher.
Principal Ali said Raya Elementary School is an institution that provides well-discipline, globally competitive graduates imbued with essential knowledge and skills of productive citizens of the community.
He said "Raya Elementary School is committed to provide quality instruction by imparting learning through competent and trained teachers and staff who demonstrate desirable values and traits that shall explore all avenues to gain commitment and greater participation of stakeholders..."
ACTIVITIES/ACCOMPLISHMENT
As for the activities of the school, Principal Ali said they had conducted summer classes last April until May 2018, from Grade 1 to Grade 3. Alhamdulillah, he said, the results were improved into 79 per cent of their reading ability.
He said the school is also focused on the school improvement, "particularly our school fencing which is now installed concrete."
"We also installed our potable water for the school children and maintain their essential health care program," he added.
Principal Ali also said that in order to maintain improvement, they sustained their best practices like... coaching, giving awards to deserving teachers for thier motivation and encouragement, sustained classroom observation, and to sustain school learning action cells session or SLAC session.
He said: "My dear stakeholders, PTCA officials of Raya Elementary school, let's work together, support one another to achieve quality education Insha Allah with your support, let's plan to do some improvement so far.
"So we need to have additional school building for more enrollees. We need also to have computers.
"I am very grateful to all teachers, PTCA, LGU’s for hard work and dedication. We are very good but we can be great.
"Indeed we will go beyond to the highest, we become paragons of learning to our students as we continue ourselves to strive for excellence."
