My actions speak louder than words: Principal Medalya Sultan Salic

SAGUIARAN, Lanao del Sur: "My actions speak louder than words." This may be the sum-up of the State of the School Address (SOSA) of Medalya Sultan Salic, principal of Maliwanag Elementary School that she delivered here on March 29, 2018.

Maliwanag Elementary School is one of the farthest schools of Saguiaran District II in Saguiaran Lanao Del Sur, which is about 7km away from the Municipal Hall. The school started when the land owner initiated to donate the land to make a school, so that the children will no longer be going to other far school in barangay.

It is composed of 6 classrooms from Kinder Garten to Grade 6 levels in three buildings including the principal office.

Principal Sultan Salic said that the school has a teaching force of four teachers including her. They were all licensed professional teachers. 

"The teachers are extending in enriching the pupils experience at home, thus strengthening the valuable, personal traits and characteristics initially developed," she said, adding that, "I feel privileged to lead such an exciting and vibrant school, which offers great opportunity for the young people of Maliwanag Elementary School."

Sultan Salic said it is their goal to make each and every pupil to succeed. "Ginagawa naming lahat ang aming makakaya upang aming masagutan ang mga tanong ng mga bata at umuwing may kaalaman," she emphasized in Filipino. "We offer our pupils the best possible opportunities to become confident, thoughtful young people who are prepared for any future challenges, in an exciting and increasingly global world," she said. 

The principal stressed: "We are very proud of our love, inclusive sincerity where we set high standard and expectation for your pupils to achieve and behave their very best.

"With the mission and vision, the school has lifted much of improvement in both academic and non-academic competition. I am very thankful to all of my teachers for their hard work. We have an accomplishment. We are great hopefully; we will continue ourselves to call for other excellence. Therefore, I know you have no reason to believe anything I say today regarding how long I plan to be here or what I wish to accomplish. All I can say is my actions speak louder than words."

ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Principal Sultan Salic reported: "During the school year 2016-2017 ang una kong priority project na nakalagay sa SIP ko is about the LOW ENROLLMENT RATE sa ngayon Alhamdulillah tumaas pa rin, one reason is the school based feeding program (SBFP).

"2nd is READING COMPREHENSION for Grade 2 pupils, 26 pupils were under frustration level, but now they belong to instructional level.

"3rd is National Achievement Test (NAT) for Grade 6 pupils is about 68.88% MPS, in science, ngayon wala akong masasabi na result kasi wala kaming natanggap na result.

PLANS.

"However," she said, "I have so many plans to improve our school, like concreting the school perimeter, fences, the classroom partition which is damages, for the pupils safe and the beautification of our school campus insha ALLAH.

"Lastly, Maliwanag Elementary School is aiming to have more productive pupils, to have a permanent stage where we can conduct all our activities, to have more teaching staff who can nourish more pupils that will result into a competitive pupils. This can only be possible with the help of everyone who is with us today and the help of our Almighty ALLAH."

The occasion was graced by Lanao del Sur-I officials like ATTY. JUNAID SALIGOIN/ EPS- LRMDS, District Supervisor
