Malabang folk asks Senate to look into alleged corruption,

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur: A concerned constituent of Malabang, Lanao del Sur has asked government agency officials including the Senate to look on the alleged corruption and irregularities in the local government unit of the municipality.
A certain Abdulnasser Toroganan Garo who said he is Lanao del Sur 2 Chairman of Mamamyang Makabayan May Dangal at Malasakit and Lanao del Sur Provincial Secretary of Citizens Crime Watch wanted the investigation of alleged corruption and crimes that devastated Malabang Lanao del Sur and impoverished its constituents in more than three decades.
In a document containing complaint letters to the Senate, the DENR, and the DILG, and other government agencies which are furnished to RSP, Garo identified the corruption and crimes as:
“1. They declared that they have 71 regular employees which are receiving millions a year. In fact, you cannot find any regular employees in Malabang Municipal Hall.
“2. They declared that they are spending millions a year for maintenance but you cannot find any maintenance employee in the Municipality of Malabang. Attached is COA Annual Audit Report ( attachment A)
“3. We have no Public Market, Terminal for Transportation, Drainage System, Maintained Medical center and Sanitary Landfill in Malabang, Lanao Del Sur (Attachment B).
“4. Basic Services are not rendered to the constituents of Malabang because LGU Malabang officials and employees are not reporting for work. The Management failed to initiate Boards under local government code 1991, R.A. 7160…”
Garo also said “The Management (sic) involved in many crimes that devastated the lives in Malabang, Lanao del Sur..”
Efforts have been made to contact the local chief executive but they are unavailable for comment as of press time.
