Solidarity Peace Walk held in Marawi

A well-represented from all walks of life solidarity peace walk has been held here on Monday, February 19, with a battle cry of "Promoting Peace and Preventing Extremism through the Passage of the Bangsamoro Basic Law."

The event was organized jointly by Mindanao prime state university MSU headed by its system president, Dr. Habib Macaayong and Bangsamoro Consortium of Civil Society Organizations (BCSO) led by its chairperson Guiamel M. Alim. It was supported by the UNDP. 

The event was graced by ARMM vice governor Haroun Al-Rashid Lucman, Marawi city mayor Majul Gandamra, AFP Gen. Roseller Murillo, TFBM Usec Felix Castro, PNP provincial head PSupt. Mocsir, MSU officials including Dr.Acram Latiph, CSO leader Ding Cali and others.

The Solidarity Peace Walk started from the MSU Oval Grandstand where MSU students had their peace sign formation to Administration Building where MSU officials, faculty and staff, and delegates from other areas like Tawi Tawi, Sulu, Basilan, Zamboangga, Cotabato, Maguindanao, Lanao del Norte joined together to raise the Philippine flag and had the flag ceremony as well as solidarity message and mural signing of peace. 

It was said that MSU has proven again and remained to be a ‘Peace University.’ (RSO/RSP)
