Marantao LGU holds Basketball Tourny for over 300 drug Surrenderees

MARANTAO, Lanao del Sur -- The local government of this municipality conducted starting late last month a series of basketball tournament for all the more than 300 surrenderees who are drug users and pushers for temporary rehabilitation in the end in view of keeping them up spiritually and physically active in nation-building.

In behalf of his wife, the municipal mayor Racma Abinal, former Mayor Mohammadali Abinal revealed this to The New Ranao Star in an exclusive interview September 28.

He said that the local government is fully supporting the intensified campaign of President Duterte’s against illegal drugs and criminalities.

He said, “Ang laban sa droga ang pinaka top priority ng Marantao ngayon.”

He mentioned the surrenderees should have a monthly verification whether they return to their old illegal activity.

Former Mayor Abinal said ten tarpaulins are placed strategically in all the barangays for the campaign.

“Marantao has 34 barangays,” he stressed, “and all their respective chairmen and chairwomen have committed full support to Mayora Abinal in the campaign against illegal drugs.”

He added, “Even the Ulama joined the administration against illegal drugs.

Last September 27, 2016, the basketball game was opened and no less than Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Director Tello, the battalion commander of the 65th IB, the DOH-ARMM in Lanao del Sur, other line agencies, the 34 barangay chairs and multi-sectoral representatives participated in the launching.
