Lanao chief executives sign performance commitment

Lanao del Sur Provincial Director McMillan A. Lucman of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) disclosed recently that the Provincial Office is conducting an orientation for all newly elected officials of the province to acquaint them of their duties and functions as local chief executives as well as provide them with status reports of their performances so they could fill up what needs to be done.


He said through the status reports the local chief executives will be able to see their deficiencies and undertake measures to correct the deficiencies. He said the DILG Provincial Office will be supervising and monitoring the implementation of the projects by local officials. He said by early January next year, the DILG Provincial Office will be meeting the local chief executives to assess their respective performances.

Lucman said the local chief executives have made their performance commitment, pledging to undertake and commit the following:

1. That we shall exercise such powers and perform such duties and functions as provided under the Local Government Code of 1991 and other laws related thereto;

2. That we shall work towards efficient, effective and economical governance, the purpose of which is the promotion of the general welfare of our constituents;

3. That we shall undertake to improve our government centers or build in the absence thereof and ensure that the city/municipality government civil servants are working in accordance with CSC rules and regulations and are at the forefront of public service delivery;

4. That we shall hire and grant permanent status and appointment to our mandatory appointive local officialsand employees who meet all the requirements for the position in accordance with the provisions of law, rules and standards promulgated in pursuance thereof;

5. That we shall cause the establishment of functional local special bodies which shall aid in the development, implementation and monitoring of city/municipal plans and programs;

6. That we shall uphold the efforts of the Sangguniang Panlungsod/Bayan to conduct regular sessions at least once a week and enact ordinances or resolutions consistent to the pursuance of the general welfare;

7. That we shall cause the prompt formulation and compliance of our respective LGUs to all the mandated plans and documents required; and

8. That we shall work harmoniously and closely with Local Government Operating Official being the head of the city/municipal field unit of the DILG assigned in our respective areas of responsibility.

Lucman said that the Performance Commitment was signed by all the local chief executives of Lanao del Sur.
