Campaign starts

Political campaigns for the May 9, 2016 elections officially started Friday, March 25 and while candidates have different ways of wooing the votes of the electorate, it is obvious that from both sides of roads, trees and houses bear not fruits but tarpaulins and streamers and posters announcing their candidacies. 

In Lanao del Sur, Governor Mujiv Hataman of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) and Liberal Party ARMM Regional Chairman, led an LP proclamation rally of the province’ second district at the Municipality of Ganassi.

Hataman proclaimed the administration’s candidates from Provincial Governor down to Municipal Mayors in the second district of Ganassi. He also proclaimed candidates for assemblyman repreenting the second district.

The following day, Hataman attended the second proclamation rally that is for LP-Lanao del Sur first district in which he proclaimed candidates assemblymen candidates in the first district and mayors in the first district.

In Maguing, Lanao del Sur, the United Nationalist Alllaince in Lanao del Sur (UNA-LDS) kicked off its first salvo rally the same day. It was not learned if Provincial party chairman and Gubernatorial candidate Sultan Fahad “Pre” Salic and his running mate former Marantao mayor Mohammadali “ Merekano” Abinal graced the occasion.

From then on, campaigns are going everyday by candidates individually or in groups. TNRS
