The MSU-UTC (formerly PHS-UHS) ASSOCIATION conducted a Medical Mission at Mahad Angoyao Al-Islamie, Ambolong, Marawi City, February 14.

Association President Olo-Odin S. Lucman told The New Ranao Star that the activity was held with the collaboration of the Office of Provincial Governor Hon. Mamintal “Bombit” Adiong, Jr.

The theme of the event was, “Dahil Mahal Ka Namin, Alagaan Namin Kalusogan mo (Because we love you, well take care of your health).”

Lucman said that the aim of the association in holding this activity is to let the alumni who have succeeded in their lives, regardless of where they are now, share their respective skills in chosen fields of endeavors to the people, especially the poor, of Lanao del Sur.

He also said that the long-term objective of the association is to effect a cultural change among the Maranaos for the betterment of the general well-being of the people.

“There is much to do for the socio-economic growth and development of the province and its people and we want to lead and let the people realize that the future depends on the collective endeavor of all,” he said.

The Maranao culture also needs changes in order to keep abreast of the outside world, it was said.

It was also noted that poor peace and order conditions and sanitation especially garbage management have become a deterrent for tourists and investors.

“Let us be examples,” he said.

Among the leaders who participated in the activity was Dr. Linang Macabalang who is one of the active movers of environmental programs in the City.

She said that the association is now reaching out to other alumni to come and get involved.
