Will MILF ceases to exist when 2016 comes?
Contrary to what others try to insinuate, the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) will continue to exist even during or after the implementation of a Bangsamoro Government in the future Bangsamoro territory.
This is a statement in an editorial of MILF’s website Luwaran apparently in reference to a report of national daily which said that once the new Bangsamoro government takes place, the MILF ceases to exist.
“The MILF is a movement which has ideology and programs of action that it pursues through to the end,” said the Luwaran editorial.
“...the moment the Government and the MILF finally sign the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, it will become a social movement that continues to pursue its aims through democratic means.”
Luwaran further said: “And one way to promote and realize this is through the organization of a principled political party that would engage in elections.”
Of course, if the proposed Bangsamoro government will be established, the MILF will cease to exist as an armed revolutionary movement either by integrating with the new government Armed Forces or otherwise. It may however remain a political party running the new government.
World revolutionary movements in the end became political parties once agreements with established governments had been reached. And MILF would not be an exemption.
