The Mindanao State University (MSU) Marawi City main campus has suspended classes of all levels from March 13 to 30, 2020 to sanitize the campus premises in the midst of the pandemic coronavirus 2019 disease which has already claimed two lives among over three dozens positively tested of the virus in the Philippines as of Wednesday.
In a memorandum dated March 12, 2020, MSU President Habib W. Macaayong said this is in pursuant to the recently issued Presidential Proclamation No. 992 by Malacanang, Resolution No. 11, S. 2020 by the Inter-Agency Taskforce for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, and the Prevention and Containment Guidelines released by the University on COVID-19.
Macaayong advised all faculty members to facilitate learning activities for their classes to maximize time during the suspension.
“This includes, but not limited to, online interactive learning sessions, such as video calls, group chats, Google classrooms, and other distant learning strategies,” he added.
The University President instructed the Office of the Vice-Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA) to monitor such arrangements and their developments.
Macaayong said that in consideration of the situation of those employees living outside Marawi City and Lanao del Sur, all faculty members and staff residing outside the city and the province shall be excused from reporting on the campus during the classes suspension.
