Macaayong maximizes guard vs COVID-19 at MSU campuses
By ROCAYA SUMNDAD OTICAL YAHYA
The Mindanao State University (MSU) System has assured that the university is mobilizing its resources to put up an impregnable defense against COVID-19 and also prompted creative responses of its various campuses, particularly MSU-IIT's design and the invention of a sanitation chamber, and MSU-Naawan's creation of improvised protective gear.
Following is the message released on Friday by the MSU Marawi-Office of Information, Press and Publication:
To the entire MSU constituency
In this trying period, which has truly affected all sectors of our University as it has gripped the entire world, rest assured that the MSU System is mobilizing its resources to put up an impregnable defense against COVID-19. The Main Campus in Marawi has intensified its daily information campaign to impress upon the community the reality of clear and present danger, and that effective resistance requires communal effort.
A mobile patrol repeatedly blares forth essential announcements/reminders: the entire community as placed in quarantine; the need for everyone to stay at home; children, senior citizens, and pregnant women to observe home quarantine to keep safe; and only one representative of the household allowed to go out to buy food and medicines. We ask of all communities in MSU only your cooperation and forbearance with these measures, for they are in place with your safety in mind; the observance of which will aid our communal defense-and eventually, recovery-against the virus. Furthermore, the MSU assures everyone, especially those students, faculty, and staff in our care who are unfortunately apart and away from their homes and communities, that we will take responsibility for ensuring your safety and provision of your essential needs over the duration of the quarantine. We will take care of our own; we will not abandon you.
The University leadership, at the helm of which is President Habib W. Macaayong, also takes pride in the prompt creative response of the various campuses, particularly MSU-IIT's design and invention of a sanitation chamber, and MSU-Naawan's creation of improvised protective gear. Both are touted as significant contributions to protecting the community against the spread of the dreaded virus. Other campuses have their own ingenious ways of keeping the COVID-19 contagion at bay. The MSU Main Campus itself has produced its own alternative alcohol solution through the help of faculty from CNSM Department and improvised protective gear, through the MSU Main's own Infirmary.
Together, our combined efforts as a System, as a community - whether it is in the form of large-scale research innovations against the virus or the simple observance of quarantine efforts - and the grace of Allah (swt) will ensure that we endure the onslaught of this virus, and emerge unscathed, when this threat is finally over.
