Mayor Nashiba U. Gandamra-Sumagayan and Vice Mayor Atty. Amenodin U. Sumagayan of the municipality of Taraka in Lanao del Sur, have expressed their support and gratitude to all the health workers and other medical professionals who are selflessly serving the country to fight the pandemic COVID-19.

In a statement on Tuesday, the couple said:

It’s been more than three months now since our world was stricken by this pandemic COVID-19. And sad to say, it has already claimed too many lives while thousands of people who are infected by the virus worldwide are still fighting to survive.

"While Enhance Community Quarantine and Lockdowns in several cities in our country are imposed to protect the majority from being infected, some people are beating the odds to put an end to this crisis. They are our brave and selfless DOCTORS and MEDICAL PRACTITIONERS who serve as ‘frontliners’ in battling the dreaded disease.

"They work long hours in their protective gear to provide lifesaving supportive care to a burgeoning number of infected people. They gamble with their lives to save others. Because of this, we stand in solidarity and support for all the health workers out there who are braving the fight that could not be won by any weapon or traditional arms and for being our world’s modern-day heroes.

"Your sacrifices will not be overlooked especially in trying times like this. Hence, the Local Government Unit of Taraka vows to render full assistance to all our health workers in curtailing and eliminating the threat of COVID-19.”
