MARAWI CITY: The Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Department of Education (DepEd) recently held a vote-counting machine (VCM) roadshow in the municipality of Lala, Lanao del Norte, as part of their preparations for the May midterm polls with Comelec officer Mohammad Abdul Rashid showing how the VCM works.
He told attendees that the VCM was designed to scan ballots and interpret the voter’s shaded mark, tabulate each mark, generate reports and transmit these results to Comelec data centers. During the elections, the poll body will be using the automated and upgraded version of the VCM.
Local candidates, barangay (village) officials and youth council officials, school principals and voters in the municipality of Lala witnessed the VCM roadshow.
Rashid said Lala has 61 clustered precincts with 45, 534 registered voters. He reminded the voters to properly shade their ballots to avoid these being rejected. The roadshow was conducted with the help of Education Supervisors Mary Arlene Carbonera and Lydia Linggolinggo. (THE MANILA TIMES)
