SAGONSONGAN, Marawi City, Lanao del Sur: Last Saturday's Barangay and SK special elections in Sagonsongan, as in all other polling areas in Marawi City, were generally peaceful.

Ana Zenaida Unte, Marawi City assistant schools division superintendent, commended the teachers, saying, "We salute our teachers who served as Electoral Board" for the orderly and peaceful conduct of elections.

She also commended "Our brothers men in uniform headed by Sir Abdulcarim of 42ndIB and his men..."  to Major Alibonga, PNP and his men, and to Sir Pal D Miondas who came with his troop and visited Sagonsongan" to see to it the elections be conducted orderly and peacefully.

"As they say Politics is a dirty game, ASDS Unte has this to say:

"(Candidates) must try to uphold the highest level of composure and must not use his staunch bravery, atrocity that spills fear and terror to the voters where their right of suffrage is defeated.

"This is a clear manifestation of violent extremism where international governments and the Philippine government are crafting national policies in the Prevention/Countering Violent Extremism through Education.

"So sad some of our Maranao brethren never learned from the lessons brought by the siege (of 2017) and worst never learned from tragic deaths of kin." - RSP
