Madaya ES started out in private houses
MAGUING, Lanao del Sur: If there is one school that started virtually from nothing, it is this school located within DepEd-ARMM District 2 of Maguing, Lanao del Sur –I division.
Formerly Madaya Primary School, it first started holding classes for its learners in private houses of the community - no building of its own. It started to grow until it reached its present status as an elementary school.
Ms. Norhina Comaradang, principal of Madaya Elementary School, told her audience when she delivered in Filipino language her State of the School Address (SOSA) on Tuesday, March 27, that the school was just an ordinary primary school sometime ago which had only one teacher and had no DepEd building. So the head teacher, she said referring to herself, worked hard to provide the need of the learners and borrowed private houses for the teachers and learners when it became an elementary school.
Comaradang, an LlB graduate, pointed out: “Today, we have one DepEd building with three classrooms but it is still not enough to accommodate the pupils, and private houses are still being used by the other three teachers.”
Comaradang said they have eight brilliant active teachers who are all LET passers except one “whom we call sister and mother because we get advice from her and she is about to retire.” She said three of the teachers hold Masteral degrees.
She said almost all the teachers are residing in Barangay Madaya so that very seldom they are late in their classes.
She said the school has a Vision and a Mission in accordance with the Unified Vision and Mission of the whole of DepEd in the entire country which is K-12 Unified Mission, Vision’s Core Values.
