LGU Marawi, Ayala open Siyapen Center

The city government of Marawi represented by its mayor Majul U. Gandamra and Ayala Foundation, Inc. represented by its president Mr. Ruel T. Maranan formally opened on January 30, 2018 the first drug rehabilitation center ever built for the local populace which is expanding its services to address some of the most pressing needs of the city. Called Siyapen Center, it is realized through the financial support of Ayala Foundation, Inc.
The Siyapen Center was officially launched in a program at Brgy. Sagonsongan with President Duterte, Mayor Gandamra, Lanao del Sur governor Soraya Alonto-Adiong, and Ayala Foundation president Maranan and other partners from the government and private sectors.
Siyapen Center, named after the Maranao word for care, is a 70-bed, 2-storey facility with a total floor area of 851 square meters, sitting on a lot area of 2,000 square meters in Barangay Poblacion.
It was refurbished with the help of the Ayala Corporation through the Makati Development Corporation and was completed in May 2017. Fortunately, it survived the Marawi Siege.
Aside from the refurbishment of the building worth Php 30M, Ayala is also providing cash for work funding of Php 3M for the livelihood initiatives of Marawi City. Two service vehicles, provided with the assistance of the Bank of Philippine Islands, are also turned over to the city government, for the Siyapen’s Center use.

ARMM Governor Mujiv S. Hataman, other dignitaries, and local leaders also graced the occasion. They were guided in a tour of the center by Ms. Sheryll Sani, the center coordinator. (RSP)
