Iligan police intensifies campaign vs illegal drugs

Police Senior Superintendent Leony Roy G. Ga, city director of the Iligan City Police Office (ICPO) disclosed recently that the ICPO has conducted 4,922 house visitations for the period from July 1 to October 6, 2016` in consonance with the campaign against illegal drugs under Oplan Tokhang resulting into the voluntary surrender of 4,627 drug personalities consisting of 4,294 users and 333 pushers.

In an interview, Ga told The New Ranao Star those who personally appeared or surrendered included 4,346 males and 281 females. He added that of the voluntary surrenderees, 228 were minors, 4,378 adults and 21 senior citizens. He said 456 drug users have been recommended for rehabilitation.

Police City Director Ga said that the ICPO has conducted 109 anti-illegal drug operations consisting of 75 buy-bust operations and 34 other operations within its area of responsibility (AOR).

He said the anti-illegal drug operations have resulted into the confiscation of grams of shabu and marijuana with an estimated value of over P9.3 M, and the arrest of 225 drug suspects, while two drug suspects were killed. He said 251 cases have been filed in court against the drug suspects.

Meanwhile, seven brand new motorcycles had been acquired by the ICPO from the PNP head office, Ga said, to be used by ICPO for patrols and quick responses of emergencies. TNRS
