Peace Road 2016 conducted in Iligan

ILIGAN CITY – The Peace Road 2016 was conducted Sunday (August 7) at the City Plaza, Iligan City with the theme: “One Global Family United to Realize One Dream” and participated in by government, non-government and religious groups.
The program started at 5:00 am with assembly and registration at Iligan Plaza, opening program where the start of the Peace Road 2016 – Philippines was announced, the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Universal Prayer for Peace, recognition of guests, partners and participants, welcome remarks by city official, opening message by Prof. Celestino Navalta, vice president, UPF Philippines, video presentation and performance of a martial arts exhibition, special address by David Q. Ditucalan, Ph. D., followed by a peace march and closing program, which included congratulatory remarks by city official represented by Councilor Ian Uy; by Col. Alex Aducal, battalion commander, 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion; Hon. Jocelyn Alcuizar, punong barangay of Tubod, Iligan City; awarding of Peace Ambassador Certificate to Dr. David Ditucalan; and closing remarks by Mrs. Almera Grace P. Mayor, executive director-FFWPU. UPF-Mindanao. Picture takings were held including the signing of the peace wall by the participants. Ms. Laarne Abuzo ably served as master of ceremony.
The Peace Road 2016 is a project of the UPF – Philippines.
The Universal Peace Federation (UPF) was founded in 2005 and represents the fruit of more than forty years of investments and efforts for the sake of world peace. Founded by Dr. & Mrs. Sun Myung Moon, UPF is in special consultative status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) AT THE United Nations. Individual members of UPF are called to be Ambassadors for Peace.
The goals of UPF include: promote a culture of peace through education, service and a commitment to good governance; fohester partnerships among governments, religious and civil society that foster peace and development grounded on universal values; create a framework for interreligious dialogue and cooperation; renewal of the United Nations and in particular the creation of an interreligious council within the UN system; and conflict prevention and post-conflict reconciliation and peace building. Its guiding principles include; Humanity is one big family under God; Human Beings essential qualities are spiritual and moral in nature; The Family is the universal school of love and peace; The Ideal of relationship is by practicing the ethics of living for the sake of others; and Lasting peace can not be achieved solely through political compromise. Its programs include: International Leadership Conference; Religious Youth Service; Character Education; and Legacy of Peace, among others.
Dr. Hyung Jin Moon is the International Chairman, while Dr. Thomas G. Walsh and Dr. Chung Sik Yong are the International President and Asia Chairman, respectively.
