Batabor to help solve poverty problem
MARAWI CITY - Mohammad “Amadatu” Abbas Batabor filed recently his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for councilor of Marawi City in the coming automated national, local and ARMM elections on May 9, 2016.
Amadatu Batabor is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from St. Peter’s College, Iligan City. He is the incumbent president of the Marawi Traders Association and the Marawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
A business man by occupation, Amadatu Batabor’s slogan is “Maayos Na Negosyo Ayos Na Buhay”.
He plans to support the installation of CCTV in business establishments in the city to serve as surveillance tool to deter the commission of crimes; perk up the growth and development of business and economy in the city; and upgrade the quality of the internet in the community, among others.
In an interview with media, Batabor said that the two business groups which he heads as president, had been giving food assistance to the poor residents of Marawi during the month of Ramadhan, the Muslim fasting month.
He said in the recent Ramadhan month, the Marawi Traders Association and the Marawi Chamber of Commerce and Industry had distributed 2,000 packs of food assistance to 2,000 poor residents of the city.
He said the packs include rice, sugar, noodles and coffee. He added that the two groups also extended food assistance to the victims of Typhoon Sendong in Iligan City. He said some 10,000 Sendong victims were recipients of the food assistance, which include 5 kilos of rice, noodles, sugar and coffee, aside from some relief goods.
He said the 2 groups visited Iligan City three (3) times to distribute the food assistance to typhoon victims and the relief goods.
He added that the same business groups also distributed food assistance to the people of Maguindanao who were displaced by the Mamasapano bloody incident. He said some 3, 000 packs of food items where distributed to the Mamasapano victims, which consist mainly of rice, sugar, noodles and coffee.
