Lanao del Sur-I marks “Teachers Day”

MARAWI CITY — The Department of Education’s Lanao del Sur Division I marked its Teachers Day in celebration of the National Teacher’s Month last October 2 held at Provincial Capitol Gymnasium
With the theme “If you can read this, Thank you Teachers,” it was participated by teachers and staff of different schools from the municipalities of Mulondo, Balindong, Masiu, Maguing, Tamparan, Ditsaan Ramain, and those who came all the way from the municipality of Wao and other schools.
Assistant Superintendent for Secondary Soraida Bualan Noor, in her opening speech, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Supervisors and Principals who were present.
She said, “I know that all of you can agree with me that this is done nationwide with the aim in view to give inspiration and motivation to all of us.”
She said, “this is one way or the other of telling or reminding us that we have to perform our duties in our country and/our responsibilities religiously, as well, so that Allah Subhanahu Wa Taala will give us rewards in this world and in the hereafter.”
She mentioned the Vision and Mission of the Lanao del Sur-Division I which includes the preparation of Citizens, charters, schools & classrooms improvement plans, class structuring, preparation of daily lesson log& lesson and other activities.
LDS – Division I Superintendent Normillah Pangandaman, on her part, began by quoting some Qur-an verses, “learning the basic knowledge is obligatory to Islam.”
She said, “Teaching has often been called a noble profession, the most prophetic profession because being a teacher requires time, dedication and the ability to inspire others to learn.”
Pangandaman said that in many countries, Teachers Day is one of the special days in appreciation and also to honour them for their special contribution.
“All teachers can be hero if they have determination, courage and dedication to work that can really inspire student,” she said. “A hero is not only famous and seen only on television, you can be a hero on your own simple way.”
She mentioned that Prophet Mohammad (SAW) was the best teacher ever known.
“His methods were not only the best, but also divinely guided, we can’t be as noble as him but we have to at least try by adhering to his Sunnah and execute our job,” Pangandaman said.
She said Teachers can teach at any level from womb, from preschool to university, can be generalists in multiple subjects or specialists in a particular subject.
She said: “A good and encouraging teacher becomes a role model and idol for students. Teachers exhibit social values, manners and style. They always teach children as to what is right and what is wrong.”
She added: “Thus teaching is a highly impressionable field. By and large, students get influenced by their teachers, which help them in moving ahead and stepping into one of their preferred careers.”
She concluded with her speech by quoting another Qur-an versing saying “To guide a person in the right path is better than what is between heaven and earth.”
Teachers from the division’s different districts performed dancing and singing as their participation on the Teachers’ Day Celebration.
The program culminated with the presentation of certificates of recognition to supervisors, principals and teachers in recognition of their participation for the success of the activity.
