Acting Mayor Ruderic Marzo terminated Atty. Rafael Benedictos, Jr. as Axecutive Assistant IV a the City Mayor’s Office (CMO) for lack or loss of trust and confidence.

This was contained in a memorandum dated May 18, 2015 issued by Marzo.


Benedictos was the counsel of suspended Mayor Regencia in OP DC14-C-023 (Ruderic Marzo, et al. vs. Celso Regencia) where the acting city mayor is the principal complainant; he was also counsel of the suspended Mayor Regencia in CA G.R. SP No.06704-1 where the acting city mayor is one of the respondents; he was also counsel of the suspended Mayor Regencia in a petition filed before the Supreme Court against certain Justices of the Court of Appeals and the acting city mayor, among others; he has never reported to the acting city mayor for work precisely because they can not work together in view of his antagonism against the acting city mayor.

As a result, Acting City Mayor Marzo terminated his highly confidential employment, as he ordered Benedictos to settle his money and property accountabilities with the city government and secure appropriate clearances relative thereto.



In another development, Mila A. Rodrigo, supervising administrative officer and OIC City Human Resource Management Officer issued a certification affirming the Mr. Dexter Rey T. Sumaoy, formerly executive assistant I at the City Mayor’s Office, with coterminous status, has tendered his resignation and was separated from the service effective January 07, 2015.
