Dateline Iligan. LGU TO PROCURE DISASTER MITIGATION EQUIPMENT
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council approved last September 9 the procurement of motor vehicles and other equipment that may be used to reduce the impact of calamities.
Three KIA vans are reportedly due for procurement to be used by ICDRRMO and the City Agriculturist Office.
Two of these will be used by IDRRM Office in monitoring and responding to emergencies around the City, especially during the festival season.
The other one will be used by the City Agriculture Office in monitoring the hinterland barangays that may be affected by the El Nino, expected to hit the country towards the end of the year.
Public Address systems will also be procured for each barangay for their use in cases of emergency and calamity.
An aluminum boat and a mobile kitchen will also be bought.
ICDRRMC Chairman Acting Mayor Rudy C. Marzo said that a mobile kitchen will used in times of emergency especially at night when the victims need immediate feeding. (CIO-Iligan/September 10, Thursday)
