Dateline Iligan. ICNHS GETS SCHOOL BUILDING FROM PAGCOR
Iligan City National High School (ICNHS) will soon have a new four-storey-20-classroom building funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PGCOR) as groundbreaking of the same was held September 17 inside the campus.
In his message, School Principal Rex Razo said that the building will not completely solve the shortage of classrooms due to the implementation of K-12 in the school but it would help decongest the existing classrooms.
A City Information Office report said that ICNHS is planning to revert to only one shift in some “year levels” as soon as the said PAGCOR buildidng is finished.
It was learned that presently most of the different sections of each “year level” are shifting due to lack of classrooms.
According to PAGCOR Chairman Joselito Naguiat, Jr. the building is part of President Noynoy Aquino’s project under the “Matuwid na Daan sa Silid-Aralan” project that began in 2010.
The project aims to build school buildings that are bigger and beautiful for students who enroll in the public schools.
ICNHS is the oldest and biggest public high school in Mindanao with a population of 7,000 and 104 “functional classrooms.”
Two shifts, Morning and Afternoon, are being practiced due to lack of classrooms, according to the Principal.
It was learned that the school building was given to ICNHS through the efforts of Congressman Vicente F. Belmonte, Jr. and the local government under the leadership of Acting Mayor Ruderic C. Marzo. The New Ranao Star
