Dateline Iligan. ICWS Tasked to Procure Electro-Fusion Machine
Acting Mayor Rudy Marzo wants the City Government to have its own electro-fusion machine for Iligan City Waterworks System.
The City Information Office reported that Marzo reached this decision after the high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe from the ICWS reservoir in Abaga, Upper Tominobo burst the other week at a point near the National Highway in Suarez, this city.
Marzo, reportedly said that ICWS must not depend on the Contractor in the event that one of the joints of the pipeline will burst again as it did in August 2013 and the other week.
It may be recalled that in that August 13 incident, the repair that lasted over two weeks did not succeed until the Contractor was called upon to help.
It was learned that an electro-fusion machine is the only technology that works in joining HDPE pipes like the ones used in the latest water system improvement project.
According to the report, Marzo tasked ICWS Manager Cristine Milagros Orbe to find suppliers for the said equipment. – The New Ranao Star -
