REDPB NAMES ARMM WATERSHEDS

The Regional Development Planning Board (REDPB) of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) identified Thursday, April 16, Watersheds in the region that are to be developed and conserved.
In the meeting presided over by Executive Secretary Atty. Laisa Alamia the following watershed areas were listed by the provincial governments concerned:
Lake Seit Watersheds Forest Reserve,Indanan, Sulu,82.48 hectares; Mount Bagsak Watershed Forest Reserve, Patikul, Sulu, 3,718.32 hectares; Lake Panamao Watershed Forest Reserve, 122.79 and buffer zone area of 1154. 21 hectares; Mount Tumatangis Watershed Forest Reserve; Liang Spring Watershed, Patikul, Sulu; Tubig Sanin Watershed, Maimbong, Sulu; Siasi Watershed Forest Reserve; Kapai-Bayog and Matling Watershed in Lanao, 37,853.21 hectares; and Malom Watershed, Tawi-tawi, 4,649 hectares.
Also mentioned was the Mahayahay Watershed, in the province of Basilan as submitted by the DENR.
Maguindanao watersheds were reportedly submitted by DENR but were not listed during the meeting.
It was learned that the said identified Watershed areas shall be declared as protected areas.
The list shall be submitted subsequently to Regional Legislative Assembly for appropriate legislation, it was learned. – The New Ranao Star -
