Division workshop on campus journalism slated Sept. 22-24
The 2014-2015 Division Workshop on Campus Journalism to be conducted by the schools division of Lanao del Sur I is finally scheduled on September 22-24 at the Division Learning Center of the division’s office at Barangay Datu Saber, Marawi City.
With a theme: “Student Empowerment through Campus Journalism,” the workshop shall be conducted in cooperation with the New Ranao Star, fastest growing newspaper in the region and only newspaper published in the locality.
The three-day workshop will have as participants all secondary English and Filipino advisers, principals and campus papers advisers within Division I.
Division I is headed by Dr. Normillah Pangandaman, schools division superintendent.
Resource speakers are leading and renowned persons in the media practice in the region.
Talented and dynamic staff from the division will as well help facilitate the workshop.
Academician and veteran journalist Prof. Masiding Noor Yahya, publisher and editor-in-chief of the New Ranao Star (TNRS), will lecture on Journalism in General, Headline Writing, Collaborative Publishing and Basic Layout.
Frank E. Dosdos, Jr., an Iligan-based veteran broadcaster and TNRS managing editor, will handle Data Gathering and Organizing, News and Feature Writing, as well as Radio Broadcasting.
Ma. Sheila M. Quiambao, TNRS bureau chief for the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, will tackle Sports Writing, and Script Writing.
She will co-deliver in Collaborative Publishing and Basic Layout.
Sittie Aysha M. Dicali, TNRS editor, will handle the presentation on editorial and opinion writing and editorial cartooning.
Photojournalist Juanito P. Macapac will present how to take pictures and video footages and upload or download them.
Meanwhile, the division’s facilitators include:
Dr. Noraida Mecampong to lecture on Correct Usage of the English language;
Dr. Aminah D. Solaiman, on the Correct Usages of the Filipino language;
Mr. Jun Saligoin and Ms. Amalia Macalabo as masters of ceremonies.
Education Program Supervisor Abdullah D. Macabunar is the lead organizer of the activity.
