Taraka town mayor graces shoebox project

Mayor Nasheba “Areefa” G. Sumagayan of Taraka Municipality, Province of Lanao del Sur graced the symbolic distribution of school supplies from the National Bookstore under the “Project Shoebox” held at the Dimayon Elementary School under Taraka District II, and Moriatao Balindong Elementary School, Taraka-I District, on November 25.



Project Shoebox is a joint project of 3rd Cavalry Squadron, MID, PA and National Bookstore in coordination with 65IB, 9ID, PA.

Beneficiaries are deserving primary pupils and elementary students in Lanao del Sur schools division I-B.

Mayor Sumagayan said she thanked the military, the National Bookstore and all who have participated in the noble project.

Sumagayan called the project most humanitarian as it is helping the youth who are struggling to gain education for a brighter future.

Sumagayan said, “The youth who are present today is closest to my heart.”

Sumagayan said she is not only a town mayor, nor a wife of a former municipal mayor, but she is also herself a teacher, a mentor to impart and share good knowledge.

The town mayor is glad that such a program is being conducted to help the youth.
