The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Lanao del Sur has created a special task force for the investigation of the killing last week in Marawi City of one of its officers.
PLTCol Edgar Batoon, Deputy Provincial Director for Operations of Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO), chairs the Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) "DITUCALAN" tasked to oversee the investigation on the shooting to death of Patrolman Abdul Mojib Barolbae Ditucalan on Thursday at Awar St., East Basak, Marawi City.
The incident also injured Ditucalan's 9-year-old son.
The special task force is composed of different operational and administrative support units of PNP in Lanao del Sur.
Batoon said the SITG had discovered that Patrolman Ditucalan was able to return fire wounding one of the gunmen.
Flash Alarm was immediately dispatched to lower units as well as to the adjacent provinces to help the investigator monitor hospitals and clinics for the possible medical treatment of the wounded suspect, he added.
Ditucalan was the former Operation PNCO of Poona-Bayabao Municipal Police Station prior to his mandatory schooling. He was assigned to the Police Provincial Headquarters while waiting for his assignment.
“We would like to ask the cooperation of the public and the possible witnesses to report any information that could help us solve the case and put the perpetrators behind the bar of justice,” said PLTCOL Batoon.
Ditucalan was buried at his hometown in Masiu, Lanao del Sur in accordance with his Islamic faith. (PR)
