MALABANG, Lanao del Sur:The schools division of Lanao del Sur 2 has conducted a ceremonial hoisting of secondary schools and district banners, the first of its kind in the history of the division of Lanao del Sur 2 which was held on Friday, August 16 at the division's Kalilangan Theater here. The program also coincided with the ribbon cutting of a newly finished project of the ASSAL Officers 2019.

Dr. Rubina Mimbantas-Macabunar, OIC-schools division superintendent, led the flag hoisting in time of the ribbon cutting of the newly finished project as well as the celebration of Eid'l Adha, one of the two major festivities of the Muslim world.

Macabunar said the event was very historical to everyone present as it was the very first that flags from different schools and districts in different municipalities within the division were being hoisted simultaneously.

She said the hoisting of flags is not just about raising flags, but a symbol. "It symbolizes unity and solidarity of all stakeholders," Macabunar added.

Supt Macabunar said, "It is such a privilege to witness a diverse community gathering for one goal: positive change."

She explained, "The rise and fall of flags has its significance. During competitions, when a school flag rises, it means it is ahead of its competitors, but when it is descending, it means you need to work harder to keep up. Social media such as Facebook is one of the most effective ways to disseminate information. However, to avoid issues and embarrassment, we could use these flags as hidden messages. Sort of a secret language among us, The Division II. When you use your flags at the bottom of a flagpole, it means you lack requirements (or you come to the office asap," she explained.

Macbunar said this added elegance and beauty not only in this municipality of Malabang or this province of Lanao del Sur but in the whole region of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) particularly in the MBHME.

She said it was a privilege to witness the historical event, and an honor to be the reason behind it.

"We all know there is no permanent in this world, However I pray to Almighty that this event and what it signifies will remain in our heart and memory. May Allah raise us to success and prosperity like how we raise these flags," Macabunar said.
