MARAWI CITY: Vice President Leni Robredo on Friday urged local folks here for unity and cooperation saying that the months ahead are very crucial as she turned over four school buildings to four public schools in remote areas of the city.
“Yung susunod na mga buwan ay napaka-crucial para sa atin. Pero gaya ng sabi ko, walang imposible pag tayo’y nagkakaisa; walang imposible pag tayo’y nagtutulung-tulungan,” Robredo said during the turnover ceremony of the four school buildings with two classrooms each which was held at the Bae Inomba Blo Bacarat Central Elementary School (BIBBCES) at Barangay (Village) Dayawan on the west of the city.
VP Leni turned over 4 school buildings donated by Philam Foundation and partners to four schools in Marawi City on Friday namely BIBBCES, Harat Medina Central Elementary School, Mapandi Elementary School and Sikap Elementary School.
The turnover ceremony was held at the BIBBCES covered court in Dayawan, Marawi City. VP Leni entourage including representatives from their partners was accompanied by Marawi city assistant schools division superintendent Anna Zenaida Unte and welcomed by BIBBCES principal Namraida Disomangcop, teaching force and personnel.
The vice president said her first journey after she won as vice president was in Marawi City, “particularly this place, Dayawan,” when she launched the Angat Buhay projet for women weavers here.
Robredo recalled how the women who were assisted by the Meralco Foundation through Angat Buhay were not able to implement their livelihood projects because the very day they received the assistance Marawi was under siege on May 23, 2017 and evacuated to nearby Iligan.
Fortunately, she said, they had to use the assistance to buy sewing machines and engage in livelihood projects in Iligan where they had temporarily evacuated to.
From BIBBCES, the vice president will proceed to Area 7 of the Resettlement Area in Barangay Sagonsongan here for the turnover of 12 units in Angat Buhay Village donated by the Latter Day Saints Charities to displaced families of the 2017 Marawi siege. (RSP)
