Nabbed drug peddler in Iligan formally charged

ILIGAN CITY: The drug-peddler who was arrested in buy-bust operations last week at a courier forwarder in the city poblacion was formally charged on Monday before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) of Lanao del Norte, 12th Judicial Region, Iligan City, police said. 

In a Commitment Order, Hon. Anisah Amanodin-Umpa, the RTC Executive Judge, remanded the suspect Mabaning Gandamasir y Limbona, male, married, 29 years old, jobless and a resident of Barangay Lumbac, Municipality of Mulondo, Lanao del Sur to Iligan City Reformatory Center in Tipanoy here. 

Last week, the joint buy-bust operations of Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Iligan City Police Station 5 and the SDEU of Iligan City Police Station 4 led by PSI Aiman Khuzaimah P. Pantaran and CIB City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) led by PMAJ Mark Anthony D. Cagalitan resulted in the arrest of Gandamasir. 

Bought from Gandamasir was one piece small size rectangular heat-sealed transparent sachet containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu worth 500 pesos during the operations conducted at JRS Express, 026 De Leon Street, Poblacion, Iligan City. 

Also confiscated from the suspect’s possession and control were two pieces big size rectangular heat sealed transparent sachet containing white crystalline granules believed to be shabu and five pieces one hundred peso bill used as buy bust money. 

The suspect was formally charged for violation of Section 5 Article II of R.A. 9165 docketed under Criminal Case number 19-22793 with no bail band recommended, and Section 11 Article II of R.A. 9165 docketed under Criminal Case number 19-22794 with recommended bail amounting to Two Hundred Thousand Pesos (Php200,000.00) before the Office of the Regional Trial Court of Lanao del Norte, 12th Judicial Region, Iligan City.
