KIDAPAWAN CITY: On Thursday, Mayor Joseph Evangelista ordered the validation of the list of social pensioners in the city.
Evangelista also instructed the Kidapawan City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) to look for the 600 senior citizen pensioners who failed to show up during the validation.
As of the latest count, there are 8,578 social pensioners in Kidapawan City’s 40 villages but only 7,978 showed up to prove they are still alive and avail of the social pension from the city government.
“Maybe some of those listed just failed to show up for validation or may have rejoined the Creator,” the mayor said.
The validation aims to cleanse the list of social pensioners and delist those who have died so that their slots can be given to incoming senior citizens.
As of June 9, an additional 343 senior citizens were entered into the list of beneficiaries of the city’s social pension program.
Every year, the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) of Kidapawan City honors and recognizes centenarians as part of the local government’s recognition and assistance program.
Each qualified centenarian receives PHP100,000 cash from the city government. (Philippine News Agency)
