Cops arrested in Lanao Sur for extortion

MARAWI CITY: Joint operatives from the Counter Intelligence Task Force (CITF), Philippine National Police (PNP) IG and 12 SAC SAF have arrested two police personnel stationed at Wao Municipal Police Station in an entrapment operation in Lanao del Sur province.
Police Colonel Madzgani M. Mukaram, Provincial Director of Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office (LDSPPO) identified the duo as PMSg Erwin Amarellento Piquero and PSSg Jeffrey Romero Fabros who were arrested for extortion.
Mukaram said the duo were arrested on Wednesday after receiving the P50,000.00 marked money from the complainant Mr. Laut Madale.
Mukaram said Madale sought assistance from the CITF office in Camp Crame against the two PNP personnel who extorted money from him in the amount of of P100,000.00 in favor of lowering the case to be filed in court against his son, Mr. Ibrahim Madale who was raided at his house in Wao, Lanao del Sur allegedly without search warrant led by the arrested suspects that resulted to the recovery of caliber .45 pistol on May 17, 2019.
The P50, 000.00 marked money is an additional demand by the suspects, added Mukaram.
PMSg Piquero from Cebu City Police Station, Police Rregional Office 7 and PSSg Fabros from Morong Municipal Police Station, Rizal Police Provincial Office, PPO, PRO 4A were reassigned to Wao, Lanao del Sur PPO for their alleged involvement in illegal drugs.
“This serves a reminder and stern warning to all PNP personnel of Lanao del Sur Police Provincial Office,” said the LDSPPO Provincial Director. (RSP)
