Three NPAs surrender in Iligan
ILIGAN CITY: One active member and two militia of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered on weekend to the 51st Infantry Battalion in Barangay Rogongon, this city.
The three also turned over two caliber pistols and ammunition to the troops of Lt. Col. Jasper Edward Obar, the 51st Infantry Battalion Commander.
“Based on our initial custodial debriefing, they are pressured to our troops who were relentless in combating the communists NPA terrorists in the hinterlands of Iligan City,” Obar said.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Roseller Murillo, 1st Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Zampelan (Zamboanga Peninsula and Lanao Provinces) Commander, commended the efforts of the troops that led to the surrender of the three communist NPA terrorists.
“We encourage more NPAs to surrender and take advantage of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) of the government.” Maj. Gen. Murillo added. (MNY)
