MARAWI CITY: The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has warned the public on fake news circulating in social media insinuating that the military is indiscriminate in its operation against lawless elements thereby affecting civilians.

In an interview with a state-run radio station here, 103rd Brigade commander Col. Romeo Brawner, Jr. said the military is committed to protecting our people.

In a related development, AFP chief of Public Affairs said, "In light of circulating messages in the social media warning the public of more bombings. We once again call for sobriety and calm on the part of the public. Let us not be gullible and let us be wary of fake news and prankster. Let us remain vigilant and cooperate with government security forces and other agencies in our areas.” (ATM/RSP)
