MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur: Some 500 farmers from the municipalities of Piagapo and Butig in the province of Lanao del Sur benefitted from training on animal production and health management practices under the Bangon Marawi Comprehensive Rehabilitation and Recovery Program (BMRRP).
The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries of Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (DAF-ARMM) conducted the training on Tuesday and Wednesday (December 18 and 19, 2018) at Ilian Covered Court in Piagapo and the Municipal Hall in Bayabao, Butig respectively.
DAF-ARMM is headed by its regional secretary Alexander Alonto Jr.
In a social media post, DAF-ARMM said the focus of the activity was to orient and train BMRR program beneficiaries on aspects of managing animals before bringing in program assistance which would involve dispersal of heads of cattle and goats.
It said the DAF-ARMM Regional Team responsible for the success of the 2-day orientation/briefing were: PMED Chief – Mariam B. Abutazil, Dr. Rogelio M. Bahinting – livestock coordinator, Dr. Bai Zharinah D .Mangindra-Animal Health Focal Person, Norodin Musanip – Animal Insemination Officer, Rasul Paguital-RAFID staff, documenters – Normia Agao and Bai Sandria Mayasa, and Planning staff- Alimodin Laut.
Provincial Agricultural Officer Pangalian Balindong, Jr. of DA-Lanao del Sur, in full support to the activity, requested Chief Operations Naga M. Tucalo and Dr. Alfreda Te, to enlighten participants on the importance of the training.
LGU officials of Piagapo and Butig expressed deep gratitude to DAF-ARMM Secretary Alexander G. Alonto, Jr. for his continuing support to the conflict - affected farmers in their municipalities.
Brgy.Chairman of Sundig Abolais Macatbar spoke in behalf of Butig Mayor Dimnatang Pansar, while Municipal Councilor Cairoden Mustapha represented Piagapo Mayor Ali Sumandar. (RSP)
